Honor your clan

When the Emperor finally united the Northern States, he was proclaimed our Imperial Emperor, and set about dividing the nation into more effective and larger Rice Kingdoms, putting only his most capable and loyal followers as the leaders of these Clans. Over the centuries, a few of those ancient Clans have faded away into time, from the Tanehira, to the Akuma, and even the once legendary Ietoki. It has been many years since a new Clan emerged, many of the Tsutsu people being simply content to be ruled by the legendary Heroes of the past, and without a powerful reason, it is likely that many Tsutsu would reject an upstart Clan too.

Each Clan specialises in a certain aspect of daily life, though all clans do roughly the same thing.

Each one farms rice, each one trains Samurai, and each one serves the Emperor. The clans specialise as followed:

Tokiyori Clan

The Tokiyori Clan are famed for their excellent Samurai. Loyal and strong, it is these warriors who are assigned to guard the Emperor’s Palace, and lead the armies of the Northern Imperial State. They own the warrior castle of Bitai, located to the south of the Imperial home island, a frontline against the Principality.

Harumoto Clan

The richest Kingdom in the Northern Imperial State, the Harumoto clan own the port of Tanju, place where hundreds of Tsutsu traders set out day and night on their quests for wealth. The city is located on the east most part of the island, and also functions as a sea fort, guarding the inlet that leads to the capital city, Hyeji.

Hikoaki Clan

The Hikoaki Clan own the religious capital of Kaecho, which is essentially a large temple surrounded by a huge zen garden, and defended by zealous Samurai. Many flock to Kaecho to learn the wisdom of the elder monks, and a few even stay to become monks themselves. Kaecho’s Samurai are stronger than the usual ones you might find in other clans, but still aren’t as powerful as the Tokiyori Clan. The Hikoaki clan reside in the west side of the island.

Arimichi Clan

The heart of Imperial Rice farming, Wonsu is located North east. They dominate the agricultural trade, growing rice, tea, and a few other crops that other kingdoms could only dream of. Their town is located on a hill, sounded by flood plains and rivers, that allow their farmers to effectively farm rice.

Kuniee Clan

Located on a small island to the north of the main Imperial homeland, the village of Tancho, owned by the Kuniee, is the home of Imperial exploration and shipbuilding. Possessing master craftsmen and responsible for sailing and exploring much of the known world, the Kuniee also provide the Imperial Navy with their warships, and the other Kingdoms with their own fishing or trade ships, though the best are often reserved for themselves or the Emperor.
