Loyalty to your Clan
Dwarven clans, while mostly known as family groups, can also be referred to as a larger group, organisation, or community. While every Dwarf would have their family clan, many might refer to their employer or local ruling clan in official regards. There are thousands of Dwarven clans in the world. Even hundreds that were important and held power. Yet there were only five that had
global fame and renown. They played the Ironfalls Dominion as their chess board. These five clans are Herrkran, Gronkokz, Haldrinon, Skallotze and Yitzalt.
Clan Herrkran The Crown
Clan Herrkran is the royal clan of the Dwarves ever since Therakdorn established his rule over the Ironfalls Dominion. Their clan is awarded the most respect within Dwarven society. Or perhaps on the global level as the Dwarven name Herrkran was known almost all over Rheanor. Never has their rule over the Ironfalls been challenged openly. However behind the scenes the other four great clans have held the strings on the entire nation many times before. Yet it is in the time that a great and powerful Herrkran comes to the throne that the nation is truly in its golden years.
Clan Gronkokz The Bankers
Clan Gronkokz is the most famously wealthy clan in the world. They have produced some of the best financial leaders within the Ironfalls Dominion. Their wealth stemmed from their clan's bank. In fact the Gronkokz bank was nearly equal in power to any nation present in Rheanor. They lent money to kings and emperors alike. Every debtor paid their due, for they knew if they didn’t Gronkokz would pull their might, wealth and grudge to make it cost the debtor far more to not pay. The Gronkokz went as far as bringing the Ironfalls Dominion to war with one of their debtors. The Ironfalls would go on to lose this war yet not before Gronkokz had already profited enough from the war to make up for the debt.
Clan Haldrinon The Smiths
Clan Haldrinon are the craftsmen and inventors of Dwarven society. Most products produced from Dwarven lands usually bear the mark of Haldrinon. Haldrinon was also the main patron and founder of the engineers college of the Ironfalls. They were responsible for many if not all of the advancements that Dwarven civilization has. Not only were they responsible for such great things, they are still the only ones who know the secrets to upkeep and produce many of their inventions and thus have secured their clan's place in the dwarven world forever, or in the very least their fame.
Clan Skallotze The Generals
Clan Skallotze had some of the most legendary warriors in Dwarven history. Known for their marital lifestyle and heavy military build up almost every Dwarven military leader has come from this clan. They assumed nearly every position of command in the Ironfalls Dominion. The clan was also known for the popularisation and invention of war gaming. One of their founding members was said to have invented chess and as their generations have gone down they have invented more complicated games to simulate battles to train the mind in tactics.
Clan Yitzalt The Pantry
Clan Yitzalt nicknamed the surface Dwarves, are known as something of an oddity mixed between the great clans. They focused on developing farmlands in valleys between the mountain ranges. While they have brought no new or great invention or innovation to the world. they occupy some of the least valued areas in the Dwarven lands. The Yitzalt produce the majority of the food in the Ironfalls. While they may be overlooked and undervalued, when the dwarven stomach rumbles its Yitzalt bread that fills it along with Yitzalt brews to wash it down.
