Raiders of the Northern Isles

In the rugged and unforgiving land of Osland, where the tempestuous sea crashes against the rocky shores, the spirit of the Oslanders burns bright. We are a people of strength, resilience, and unyielding determination. Our history is interwoven with tales of bravery, conquest, and a fierce independence that sets us apart from the rest of Rheanor.

At the heart of our heritage lies the legend of Oslo the Wanderer, the founder of Osland. Exiled from his own clan under dubious circumstances, Oslo embarked on a daring journey that would shape the destiny of our people. With unwavering conviction and an indomitable will, he traversed treacherous lands and conquered mighty seas, eventually discovering a hidden island never before seen by mortal eyes. Oslo named this newfound land Osland, a testament to his audacity and the enduring legacy he would leave behind.

From its inception, Osland thrived as a haven for warriors and raiders. Our people honed their skills in battle, becoming renowned throughout Rheanor as fierce adversaries. We reveled in the spoils of raiding, filling our coffers with treasures obtained from distant lands. Yet, survival on our harsh island demanded more than mere plunder. We learned to cultivate the earth, coaxing crops from the stubborn soil and tending to our herds of oxen and sheep. The land claims and disputes over grazing rights often led to family feuds, fueled by ancestral grudges that simmered beneath the surface.

Craftsmanship on Osland was a different tale altogether. We lacked the grand industry and masterful artisans found elsewhere. Our resources were limited to crude metals, and the grandeur of plate armor and masterfully crafted swords were rarities, reserved only for the most esteemed warriors who acquired them through conquest. Instead, we relied on chainmail, leather armor, and weapons such as axes, spears, and bows, all fashioned with practicality in mind. The ubiquitous round shield became a steadfast companion, forming shield walls that offered solace in the heat of battle.

Our faith, deeply rooted in the teachings of Lumen and Ayla, embodies our ethos. We revere Lumen's warrior aspect, embracing the principles of crusades and the pursuit of what we deem just and rightfully ours. Ayla's belief in the absence of good or evil and the equality of all resonates with our conviction that strength sets us apart. If we possess the strength to claim what we desire, be it basic necessities or opulent luxuries, we are entitled to seize it.

The appointment of the High Jarl, our esteemed leader, follows a tradition of celebration and competition. Only the strongest among us can ascend to this revered position, and the succession is determined through trials of strength and skill. Such occasions are marked by jubilation and fierce contests, forging a bond between the High Jarl and the people that ensures our continued unity and survival.

As an Oslander, I hold my head high, proud of our heritage and the legacy we carry. We are a people defined by our indomitable spirit, unyielding in the face of adversity. Our island home, tempered by the wild seas and rugged landscape, has shaped us into a force to be reckoned with. Let our tales echo through the ages, inspiring future generations of Oslanders to embrace their strength, honor their history, and forge their own destinies amidst the untamed lands of Osland.
